今月のテーマは「梅雨入りから夏前の湿度感」。ジャズやソウルの流れを軸に、後半はフォークの雰囲気でゆるめに締めくくる構成です。

今月の流れ

ジャンルの流れはざっくり #Jazzy & #Soul のチルビートから #Folk へ。

今月のワンポイント

1曲目は横浜での出来事がきっかけで出会ったNomak × Pete Phillyのコラボ曲から。オーナーが来日中の友人カップルをアテンド中、ランチの店内BGMが良すぎてShazamを起動したら、2人も同時に起動していて爆笑。そんな流れで見つけたトラックを今月の入口に持ってきました。

(12) Maple Rain — SamuW, ddddeeeellllaaa, Goodsick

タイトルの通り、今月のテーマにそのままはまってくれた1曲。チルでジャジー、アッパーながらも癒される絶妙なバランスが3者コラボのハーモニーとビート感を生んでいます。

今月のおすすめアーティスト

私はもともと10代からのヘビーリスナーで、音楽を聴くことが今も制作の一番の原動力です。2022年からはキュレーターとしてチル系プレイリストの公開も行っており、そんな音楽好きの視点から毎月プレイリストに入れたアーティストの中から一人紹介していきます。

今月ピックアップするのは、現在は作曲家として活動されているイケグチリョウさんの前身ユニット「フカミドリ」です。

フカミドリは1998年〜2000年頃に活動した男女宅録ユニット。メンバーは松井憲一と池口綾（イケグチリョウ）さん。DAWどころかパソコンもまだ普及していなかった時代に、Roland VS-880で録音した完全宅録作品です。作詞・作曲・アレンジ・演奏・ボーカルをほぼイケグチさんが担当し、ギターからドラムまで自ら演奏して重ね録りしていたとのこと。

今回はそのフカミドリの2ndアルバム Peanuts on the run から「過ぎた話」を (18) に使わせてもらいました。

ジャンルはフォークで、後半(17-20)のゆるめゾーンに自然と溶け込んで良い雰囲気を作ってくれてます。ぜひチェックしてみてください！

This Month's Key Point

Track 1 came from an unexpected encounter in Yokohama. While showing around a couple of friends — one of whom is a label owner visiting from abroad — the BGM at our lunch spot was so good that I opened Shazam... only to find them doing the exact same thing at the exact same moment. That shared instinct led me to the track that opens this month's list.

A track whose title fits this month's theme perfectly. Chill, jazzy, and uplifting yet soothing — the interplay of three artists brings a harmony and groove that's uniquely their own.

This Month's Featured Artist

I've been a heavy listener since my teens, and music is still the biggest driving force behind my own production. Since 2022, I've also been active as a curator, sharing chill playlists — and it's from that music-lover's perspective that I introduce one artist from each month's playlist.

This month's pick is Fukamidori, the predecessor unit of composer Ikeguchi Ryo, who continues to be active in music today.

Fukamidori was a male-female home recording duo active around 1998–2000. Members were Matsui Kenichi and Ikeguchi Aya (Ikeguchi Ryo). At a time when DAWs — or even personal computers — were far from commonplace, they recorded entirely on a Roland VS-880. Songwriting, arranging, playing every instrument, and vocals were handled almost entirely by Ikeguchi, layering track by track by hand.

"過ぎた話" (Sugita Hanashi) appears at track (18), settling naturally into the relaxed closing stretch of the playlist. Definitely worth a listen!
