今月は初めてジャンルとして意識してジャズハウスに手を出してみました。というわけで今回のイメージは「ジャズハウス・ラウンジ風」です。
今月の流れ
ジャンルの流れはざっくり「Jazz House → Breakbeats & Indie Rock → Chill Beats系」。
1曲目は「これぞハウス！」という小気味良い4つ打ちでスタート。ジャズのサンプリングやコード感を感じるトラックを選びつつ、2曲目は愛聴しているジャズ寄りのハーモニーを使うBad SnacksのリミックスEPから原曲をフィーチャーしています。
今月のハイライト：7〜9曲目
流れ・テンポ・音圧の山場として7〜9曲目を配置しました。
- (7) ラウンジとしてもいけるノイジー・ドラムン・ブレイクビーツなリミックス
- (8) ギターバッキングが好みなノイジー＆サイケなインディロック
- (9) 玄人好みなサイケインディなJ-Pop
ここが決まらず今回は難産でしたが、間引いて、整理して、色々見直した結果、この3曲の順に並べたら良い流れになってくれました。(7)はため息が出るくらいカッコ良いので是非聴いてみてください！
今月のワンポイント
今回は特に20→1のループがバチっと繋がるように意識して作りました。作業中やリラックスタイムにリピートしてもらえると嬉しいです。全体としてジャズ感・ビート感のあるトラックが多く、イメージの一貫性は出せたかなと思っています。
今月のおすすめアーティスト
私はもともと10代からのヘビーリスナーで、音楽を聴くことが今も制作の一番の原動力です。2022年からはキュレーターとしてチル系プレイリストの公開も行っており、そんな音楽好きの視点から毎月プレイリストに入れたアーティストの中から一人紹介していきます。
今月はいつもお世話になっているハリーさんことharryfaokiをピックアップ。茨城県出身、東京音楽大学卒業後にニューヨークでアレンジャー・エンジニアとして活動し、帰国後は作編曲家として国内外で幅広く活躍されています。そんなharryfaokiさんのチル＆ジャジーなアルバム「Blue Midnight 2」から、リズミカルなビートとギターミュートが心地よい「Casablanca」を今月の(18)にピックアップしています。ぜひチェックしてみてください！

May's Monthly Chill Songs Pickup!! is now updated!
This month, I consciously explored Jazz House as a genre for the first time. So the overall vibe this month is "Jazz House / Lounge."
This Month's Flow
The genre flow goes roughly: Jazz House → Breakbeats & Indie Rock → Chill Beats.
Track 1 kicks off with a crisp four-on-the-floor beat that's pure house energy. I focused on selecting tracks with jazz sampling and chord progressions, and for track 2, I featured the original from a remix EP by Bad Snacks — an artist I've been loving for their jazz-influenced harmonies.
This Month's Highlight: Tracks 7–9
Tracks 7–9 serve as the peak in terms of flow, tempo, and sonic intensity.

- (8) Noisy & psychedelic indie rock with a guitar backing I love
- (9) Psychedelic indie J-Pop for the discerning ear
This section was the hardest to nail down — it took a lot of trimming, rethinking, and rearranging before these three tracks clicked into place. Track 7 is so cool it literally made me sigh — definitely give it a listen!
This Month's Key Point
I paid special attention to making the 20→1 loop connect seamlessly. Feel free to keep it on repeat while working or relaxing. The overall vibe is cohesive — lots of jazzy, beat-driven tracks throughout.
This Month's Featured Artist
I've been a heavy listener since my teens, and music is still the biggest driving force behind my own production. Since 2022, I've also been active as a curator, sharing chill playlists — and it's from that music-lover's perspective that I introduce one artist from each month's playlist.
This month's pick is harryfaoki — a composer and arranger I have the pleasure of knowing personally. Originally from Ibaraki, he studied at Tokyo College of Music before spending around 15 years in New York as a studio arranger and engineer. After returning to Japan, he has been active as a freelance composer and arranger, working with artists both domestically and internationally.
From his chill & jazzy album Blue Midnight 2, I've picked "Casablanca" for track (18) — a track with a rhythmic beat and muted guitar that just feels so good. Definitely worth checking out!
