9月のMonthly Chill Songs Pickup!! 更新しました。

今月のテーマは「夏の終わりから秋へ」。8月下旬から少しずつ気温も落ち着き、今年は早くも秋の気配を感じるようになってきたので、いつものチルよりさらにメロウな方向へ振り切った流れになっています。

海を感じる穏やかなチルビートから始まり、アコースティックやジャズ&ジャジー、エレクトロなビートへと展開していきます。中盤の(7)→(11)をピークに捉え、後半はテンポを落としながらボサノヴァなどラテンの空気を感じる楽曲も多めにピックアップしました。

ミニマルなフレーズを繰り返しながら少しずつ高まっていく曲や、ゆったりと曲調が移り変わっていく曲も多く、夏の余韻を残しつつ秋へ向かうこの時期にゆっくり聴ける20曲になっています。

今月のお勧めアーティスト

今月は UMI（ウミ） と 山本かなこ（Kanako Yamamoto） の2組です。

2曲目のUMI「happy im」はアーカイブから今回改めて選曲しました。

R&Bやネオソウルを軸にした柔らかくメロウなサウンドと、浮遊感のある歌声が心地良い1曲。選曲した後に知ったのですが、UMIというアーティスト名は日本語の「海」に由来しているそうです。

そして3曲目の Kanako Yamamoto「With You」は、Instagramで彼女の演奏を見かけたことがきっかけで知った曲です。

特に惹かれたのがアコースティックギター。繊細で温かい音色とフィンガースタイルの演奏がとても印象的でした。

そこへ過去のアーカイブからUMIを再び持ってきて、試しに (2) → (3) と並べてみたところ、チルなアコースティックギターのビート同士、とても自然につながりました。

過去に見つけた曲と、最近新しく出会った曲がうまくつながったのも、今回の選曲で面白かったところです。

今回は全曲を通してジャンルを横断しながら少しずつ景色が変わっていく流れです。

特に気に入っているのが、ストリングスとビートが印象的なBad Snacks「Technicolor」から、harryfaoki「Get on the Feel」への (12) → (13)。

全体をメロウに寄せている分、似た質感が続くと少しくどくなりそうなところにフュージョンを入れることで、心地良さを残したまま雰囲気をガラッと変えることができました。

September's Monthly Chill Songs Pickup!! is now updated.

This month's theme is "From the End of Summer into Autumn." Temperatures started to ease a little in late August, and with the first hints of autumn already in the air this year, I've taken the playlist even further into a mellow direction than usual.

It starts with calm, ocean-inspired chill beats, then moves through acoustic sounds, jazz and jazzy beats, and electronic textures. The middle section, (7) → (11), serves as the peak of the playlist, before the tempo gradually slows down in the latter half with more Bossa nova and Latin-influenced tracks.

There are also several tracks built around minimal, repeating phrases that gradually build, as well as songs that slowly shift in mood and texture over time. The result is a mellow 20-track selection to enjoy as the lingering days of summer slowly give way to autumn.

This Month's Featured Artists

This month, I'm featuring UMI and Kanako Yamamoto.

Track 2, UMI's "happy im," is a track I brought back from my archive of previously picked songs.

Its soft, mellow blend of R&B and neo-soul, along with UMI's airy vocals, makes for a beautifully relaxing listen. One thing I discovered after selecting the track is that UMI's artist name comes from the Japanese word for "sea."

Track 3, Kanako Yamamoto's "With You," is a song I discovered after coming across one of her performances on Instagram.

What especially caught my attention was her acoustic guitar playing. Its delicate, warm tone and fingerstyle approach really stood out to me.

When I brought UMI back from my archive and tried placing the two tracks together as (2) → (3), their chill, acoustic guitar-driven beats flowed very naturally into each other.

One of the interesting things about this month's selection was seeing a track I'd discovered in the past connect so naturally with an artist I'd only recently found.

This Month's Highlights

This month's playlist is all about gradually changing scenery while moving across different genres from beginning to end.

One transition I particularly like is (12) → (13), from Bad Snacks' "Technicolor," with its distinctive strings and beat, into harryfaoki's "Get on the Feel."

Since the overall playlist leans heavily into mellow textures, too much of a similar feel could start to become a little repetitive. Bringing fusion into the sequence allowed me to change the atmosphere dramatically while keeping the flow smooth and comfortable.
